School Room Display, Eastern Oregon Historical Museum, Haines

Organized in the late 1950s, the museum is housed in the former Haines High School Gymnasium, and still contains the huge coal-fired cast-iron stove that used to heat the cavernous space. It houses more than 10,000 items ranging from logging and mining equipment to antique dolls and toys. Major features include the massive bar from the Bourne saloon and the Geiser-Grand’s first hand-crank elevator.
