Very little physical evidence remains at Fremont, and what there is—bits of rusted tin, a few old juniper posts and parts of the school’s concrete foundation—are well hidden beneath the sagebrush. The school was the town’s last standing building; it closed in 1933 and was later sold and moved to a farm south of Fort Rock.
