Summitt, Oregon
Platinum/Palladium print from scanned 4x4 negative
Once called Summitville, this aptly named outpost straddles the Coast Range summit, separating the watersheds of the Marys and Yaquina rivers. Founded about 1885, it sits on the highest point along the old Corvallis-Yaquina Military Wagon Road, and later was a crew camp during construction of the coast railway. Summit underwent a revival in the 60s and 70s when residents said to be of a counter-culture bent moved in and began sprucing up the town.
