A native of Ohio and an Oregonian since 1976, I discovered what photography was really about the first time I looked through the ground glass on an old 4x5 press camera in 1985, and ever since I've enjoyed a romance with the iconic, the serene, and the patina of things past their prime. For the past couple of decades I've been investigating and interpreting local histories of the Northwest through photographs of what's been left behind. I began with large-format film cameras, printing in silver and eventually specializing in the traditional platinum process. These days I also photograph with digital cameras, including one converted to record infrared light, and make archival pigment ink prints. For a time I had fun manipulating Polaroid SX-70 prints, and also play with a pinhole camera made from a cigar box and a 5x7 film back. The prints shown on this site are available for purchase by contacting me directly. Original 5x7" and 8x10" platinum/palladium prints (mounted in acid-free matts) range in price from $150 to $300. Archival-quality pigment inkjet prints of any of the images you see on this site can be custom ordered in a range of sizes—from $75 to $125 for print only; or $150 to $200 for matted prints.
